BioData.pt is a non-for-profit private association of 14 R&I organizations.
BioData.pt is the Portuguese distributed infrastructure for biological data and the Portuguese ELIXIR node.
BioData.pt supports the national scientific system through best practices in data management and state of the art data analysis.
It interfaces with both academia and industry, making research available for innovation, namely in sectors such as agro-food and forestry, sea, and health.
BioData.pt services include ELIXIR services such as our training programme and computing facilities, as well as consulting services in data analysis and management, and a number of community services.
Who we are
Centro de Biotecnologia Agrícola e Agro-Alimentar do Alentejo (CEBAL), Centro de Ciências do Mar (CCMAR), Centro Interdisciplinar de Investigação Marinha e Ambiental (CIIMAR), Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL),Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica (iBET), Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores, Investigação e Desenvolvimento em Lisboa (INESC-ID), Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência (IGC-FCG), Instituto de Medicina Molecular João Lobo Antunes (iMM), Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Universidade de Aveiro (UAveiro), Unidade de Ciências Biomoleculares Aplicadas (UCIBIO), Universidade de Coimbra (UCoimbra), Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa (FMUL), Universidade do Minho (UMinho), Universidade Nova de Lisboa (NOVA).
BioData.pt is overseen by the General Assembly, composed by the legal representatives of its associates.
The Administration Council is responsible for managing BioData.pt.
The External Advisory Board is composed of 3-5 external experts providing regular assessment and advice to the technical and scientific activities of BioData.pt.
The Fiscal Council oversees BioData.pt accounting.
The ELIXIR PT Head of Node leads the Portuguese Node of ELIXIR and ensures the fulfillment of its commitment before the European ELIXIR consortium.
The operational branch of BioData.pt is organised in three categories:
Communities - gather researchers that identify gaps in data management, tools and computing resources in different life science domains (e.g. plants, microbiotechnology, sea and health).
Platforms - support communities to fill the gaps, creating new services and training modules.
Services - developed and maintained by BioData.pt for the national and international R&I community.
