FAQs

Accounts, authentication, and profiles

How do I log in?

Start by clicking the "Log in" button on the top right, then press the "LS Login" button. You'll be taken to LS Login to authenticate.

How do I delete my account?

Log in to your account. Follow this link. Alternatively, go to "My BioData.pt" (top right) > My Account > Edit > Cancel account (at bottom of the page).

Please note:

  • Deleting your account is not the same as issuing a GDPR right to erasure request. Please email our Data Protection Officer at dpo@biodata.pt to get that process started, if you wish.
  • Deleting your BioData.pt account does not delete your LS Login account.
  • Deleting your account will irreversily delete information directly associated with that account from our website.
  • Logging in with the same LS Login account will trigger the creation of a new account.
How do I edit my public profile?

Public profiles are created for members with public positions or relationships with BioData.pt | ELXIIR Portugal. Each member may edit directly some of the information publicly available. To do so, log in with your institutional account, and press the "Edit" button on your profile page. If you don't see it, see Why am I not able to edit my public profile?

Why am I not able to edit my public profile?

Authenticated users will se an "Edit" button at the top of their public profiles. However, in some cases, that may not be the case. The most common cause is that our website has failed to incorrectly match your account with your public profile. Our servers match the email address provided by LS Login with the one we have on file (not to be mistaken with the public email address that you can opt to show in your profile). Here's what you can do to help fix this issue:

  • Ensure you've used your institutional account to log in via LS Login (logging in via services like Google or ORCID may cause issues).
  • In the LS Login account portal, check that your preffered email matches your current institutional email.
  • If all other approaches are unsuccessful, send an email to support@biodata.pt, as the issue may require manual intervention by an administrator.
How do I make my profile public/private?

In your profile settings page, you can change the visibility of your profile use the "Make my Public profile" optione

How do I change/hide my email address?

In the BioData.pt website, two email addresses are stored for each user, which may or may not be the same:

  • Your public email address, which is visible on your profile, and which you can edit in the profile settings page, and is visible to anyone who can see your profile. You can leave that field blank if you wish to hide it.
  • Your account email address, which is only viewable and editable by website administrators and managers. We match this address against the one in your LS Login profile to log you in. If you're fine with deleting your account's data, you can delete your account, update the email address in LS Login account portal, and then log in again. Alternatively, you can change it in the LS Login account portal, and then request it to be changed manually by an administrator by sending an email to support@biodata.pt.
