Overview

Understanding data management in a research environment is becoming increasingly important as national and European infrastructures promote ERA-wide Open Science policies. At present EU funding agencies require researchers to provide a Data Management Plan; a requirement that is likely to be standard at the national level in the near future. So what are the responsibilities of publicly-funded researchers with respect to scientific data?

This course will introduce (meta) data types, how they are managed in an Open Science research environment, and how to comply with FAIR data principles. The course will also discuss what computational resources and expertise are available to researchers.

Presented and sponsored by BioData.pt/ELIXIR.pt - the Portuguese National Bioinformatics Infrastructure - and the Ready for BioData Management Programme.
