About me

Dr. Osório is an Invited Professor at the University of Minho's School of Medicine and a Principal Investigator at the Life and Health Sciences Research Institute (ICVS) in Portugal. Holding a PhD in Health Sciences from the University of Minho and advanced training from institutions like Wageningen University and the University of Rochester, he is a leading expert in bioinformatics and infectious diseases. His research focuses on human pathogen evolution, using computational approaches to develop novel diagnostics and therapeutics, with over 50 publications in top-tier journals and 1,400+ citations.

A pioneering educator, Dr. Osório integrates AI, mixed reality, and immersive simulations into medical curricula, coordinating innovative courses like AI-Assisted Coding and Immersive Technology in Medicine. He leads the international postgraduate course Bioinformatics in Health Sciences and has taught EMBO and Erasmus-funded programs worldwide. As an NBME SEEF Fellow, he advances AI-driven clinical assessment and collaborates with Stanford’s CHARIOT program.

Beyond academia, he is Vice President of B-ACIS.pt, co-founder of Petridish Software (creator of LabOrders.com), and a strong advocate for public health and health literacy. He has mentored numerous researchers, including PhD candidates from developing countries. His interdisciplinary work and commitment to AI-driven medical education position him as a thought leader shaping the future of healthcare.
