BioData.pt participates in ELIXIR Cellular and Molecular Research Workshop

BioData.pt | ELIXIR Portugal participated in the ELIXIR Cellular and Molecular Research (CMR) workshop, held on 21–22 April 2026 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

The event brought together contributors to ongoing CMR activities and members of the wider ELIXIR community to review progress, strengthen collaborations and discuss future priorities for cellular and molecular research across the infrastructure.
The workshop focused on updates from current CMR Work Packages and activities, the integration of outputs across different work streams, and alignment with ELIXIR Platforms and Communities. Participants also contributed to discussions on strategic priorities and the development of the CMR work programme for 2027–2028, helping to shape the future direction of this important area within ELIXIR.
Through its participation, BioData.pt engaged with colleagues from across Europe to exchange knowledge, identify opportunities for collaboration and contribute to ongoing efforts to enhance data integration, interoperability and the reuse of research resources in the cellular and molecular sciences. The meeting also provided an opportunity to strengthen connections between national and international initiatives and to explore synergies between different ELIXIR activities.
The workshop followed the ELIXIR Biodiversity, Food Security and Pathogens (BFSP) meeting, with participants from both events coming together for a joint session that fostered cross-domain dialogue and collaboration. Discussions highlighted the importance of coordinated approaches to addressing scientific challenges that increasingly require expertise spanning multiple research areas.
Following the workshop, participants also had the opportunity to engage with the co-located Research Software Stories (ReSoS) hackathon, organised by ELIXIR-STEERS and EOSC EVERSE. The initiative promoted best practices in research software documentation and reproducibility, reinforcing the role of sustainable software development in supporting high-quality scientific research.
By taking part in the CMR workshop, BioData.pt reaffirmed its commitment to contributing to ELIXIR’s strategic objectives and to supporting collaborative, data-driven research that advances cellular and molecular life sciences across Europe.
