BioData.pt | ELIXIR Portugal participated in the first ELIXIR Biodiversity, Food Security and Pathogens (BFSP) hybrid workshop, held on 20–21 April 2026 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
The event brought together members of the ELIXIR community involved in biodiversity, food security and pathogen-related research to discuss ongoing activities, emerging opportunities and future strategic priorities within the BFSP Priority Area.
The workshop provided a forum for updates from funded BFSP projects, discussions on European and national funding opportunities, and the development of the BFSP strategy and work plan for 2027–2028. Participants also explored ways to strengthen collaboration across ELIXIR Nodes and enhance the integration of data, tools and expertise to address key societal challenges related to biodiversity conservation, sustainable food systems and pathogen surveillance.
Through its participation, BioData.pt contributed to discussions on the future direction of the BFSP Priority Area and reinforced its commitment to supporting collaborative, data-driven research initiatives across Europe. The workshop also offered valuable opportunities to engage with colleagues from other ELIXIR Nodes, exchange experiences and identify areas for future cooperation within the biodiversity, food security and pathogens domains.
As an active member of ELIXIR, BioData.pt continues to support the development of interoperable data resources and services that enable researchers to tackle complex scientific challenges and contribute to a more sustainable and resilient future.
