The 3rd Microbiome PT Summit, organised by BioData.pt | ELIXIR Portugal Microbiome Community, brought together more than 160 participants from 14 nationalities over two days of scientific exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration, on April 15 and 16, in Lisbon.
Throughout the event, national and international researchers discussed the latest advances in microbiome science — from foundational discoveries to real-world applications in human health and society. Sessions covered clinical perspectives, cutting-edge research, and the transformative potential of the microbiome across a range of contexts.
One of the highlights of this edition was the Industry Engagement at the Panel discussions, which brought together academic researchers, clinicians, start-ups, established biotech companies, and diagnostics developers. The goal: to strengthen collaboration and knowledge exchange across the microbiome innovation ecosystem. Industry short presentations complemented this space by providing concrete examples of technologies and methodologies available to the scientific and clinical community.
More than the science itself, the summit was defined by interdisciplinary dialogue, meaningful exchanges between participants, and a shared curiosity that carried through every session.
The scientific and organising committees extend their gratitude to all participants, speakers, and partners who made this event possible. The next edition is already set for 2028.
