We are glad to announce that João Filomena, BioData.pt’s trainee, has defended his MSc thesis finishing with 19 out of 20!
The project named Adaptation of GenoQual pipeline to new upstream applications and to run independently from Galaxy portal involved the subjects of bioinformatics, metagenomics and NGS and aimed at updating IGC’s metagenomic analysis pipeline, GenoQual, with Python 3 support. Also, it intended to plan how to add QIIME 2 and Kraken2 support to make use of the newer advances in the world of bioinformatics.
This is an example of how BioData.pt is increasingly building capacity on young researchers regarding bioinformatics and research data management. Congratulations, João!
