BIP4DAB = BioData.pt - Portuguese Infrastructure for Biological Data
On the 4th of June 2021, took place, via Zoom, the first General Assembly of BIP4DAB Association, with the presence of all 12 founder associates (Centro de Biotecnologia Agrícola e Agro-Alimentar do Alentejo (CEBAL), Centro de Ciências do Mar (CCMAR), Centro Interdisciplinar de Investigação Marinha e Ambiental (CIIMAR), Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (FCUL), Instituto de Biologia Experimental e Tecnológica (iBET), Instituto de Engenharia de Sistemas e Computadores: Investigação e Desenvolvimento em Lisboa (INESC-ID), Instituto Gulbenkian de Ciência of Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian (IGC-FCG), Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Universidade de Aveiro (UAveiro), Universidade de Coimbra (UCoimbra), Universidade do Minho (UMinho), and Universidade Nova de Lisboa (NOVA)), to elect the corporate bodies of the Association.
The elected members had an absolute victory, with 12 out of 12 votes. Congratulations to BIP4DAB and its named members of the Board of the General Assembly - Ana Teresa Freitas, President, Ricardo Bastos Leite, 1st Secretary, and Isabel Pereira Rocha, 2nd Secretary -, the members of the Administration Council - José Pereira Leal, President, Cátia Calisto Pesquita, Vice-President, Miguel Pereira Rocha, Vice-President, Irina de Sousa Moreira, and Cymon John Cox- and the Fiscal Council - João Oliveira (hired ROC from BDO) José Luís Oliveira, Vice-President, and Fátima Duarte.
Following the recommendation of assessment to the FCT Portuguese Roadmap of Research Infrastructures, BioData.pt, the Portuguese Node of ELIXIR, is now a legal entity. This is a big step, full of ambition and commitment, to continue to bring excellence to Portuguese science, by providing state of the art computing, bioinformatics and data management resources to life and health sciences research produced in Portugal.
